Project Summary

WS-F is an ESA-funded activity in the context of the Sunrise Phase 2 program, with the objective of developing and deploying the first commercially relevant use cases of Continuous Intelligence in a satellite operator company building large constellations, such as OneWeb, and demonstrating the benefits of advance Telemetry Analysis within OneWeb infrastructure.

Problem we solved

In the ever-evolving field of space mission operations, ensuring satellites’ continuous and reliable performance is paramount. Detecting and addressing anomalies in advance is crucial for maintaining mission success and avoiding costly disruptions. Satellite anomalies can occur due to various factors, including system failures, environmental conditions, or unexpected events. However, traditional approaches to anomaly detection often rely on autonomous FDIR systems, which may not always capture all anomalies or provide the necessary insights for proactive maintenance.

Why it is important

Recognizing the limitations of existing anomaly detection methods, AIKO is developing gifted_GENE, an advanced software (SW) product designed specifically for deployment in a Mission Control Centre (MCC), tailored to the needs of Operations (OPS) and Spacecraft Subsystem Engineer (SSE) team. This powerful tool extends the telemetry analysis functionalities within the MCC, enabling operators to proactively address potential anomalies and ensure the smooth functioning of satellite systems. By leveraging offline and real-time analysis, detection of anomalies, an intuitive user interface, and seamless integration with existing workflows, gifted_GENE enhances operators’ capabilities within the MCC, enabling them to proactively maintain and optimize satellite systems.
